Shincliffe River Crossing - Possible Roman remains.

Remains have been noted to the east of the Shincliffe Bridge by the Northern Archaeological Group. These remains are suggested to be Roman with lewis holes noted, and therefore suggested a Roman bridge for carrying Cade's Road across the Wear. Further work is needed to establish if this case and not material from the nearby Medieval bridge.
